    Outdoor-Apps und Naturschutz sind seit Jahren ein hei?es Thema. Es geht um inoffizielle Pfade, nicht eingehaltene Betretungsverbote und die Angst, dass sensible Schutzgebiete auf unberechenbare Weise von Outdoorsportler:innen überrannt werden k?nnten. Gleichzeitig, um den Sport?kologen Prof. Dr. Manuel Steinbauer zu zitieren, ?haben wir heutzutage erstmals in der Geschichte die M?glichkeit, Schutzgebietsbesuchende zu jeder Zeit und an jedem Ort zu erreichen“ und damit positiv auf ihr Verhalten einzuwirken. über die letzten Jahre haben wir uns bei Outdooractive Research im Projekt DIGITAL RANGER gemeinsam mit der Universit?t Bayreuth und weiteren Partnern mit genau diesen Herausforderungen und den Chancen von Plattformen und Apps auseinandergesetzt. Herausgekommen ist u.a. ein ?Referenz-Guide zur digitalen Aktivit?tenlenkung“. Dieses Nachschlagwerk bildet den aktuellen Diskurs um das Thema Naturschutz und Digitalisierung im Outdoorsport umfassend ab, auch basierend auf mehreren Vernetzungstreffen zwischen den relevanten Akteuren. Eine übersicht über die durchgeführten Studien gibt Einblicke in hochrelevante Forschungsergebnisse, dazu gibt es Handlungsempfehlungen für alle betroffenen Stakeholder. Abgerundet wird die Publikation durch lesenswerte Interviews, unter anderem auch mit meiner Kollegin Athalia Schraysshuen. Allen, die mit den Schnittstellen von Naturschutz und Schutzgebietsmanagement sowie Outdoorsport und -tourismus in Berührung kommen, kann ich die Lektüre des Referenz-Guides von ganzem Herzen empfehlen.     ?Taking responsibility!“ – That was the core message running through the event “Digitalization, Nature Conservation, and Outdoor Platforms”, hosted by the Albrecht von Dewitz Stiftung at VAUDE in Tettnang on July 16. How can online platforms like Outdooractive contribute to nature conservation? How can outdoor enthusiasts and visitors be better informed about local regulations and sensitive species that must be protected from disturbance? As part of the Digital Ranger project, Outdooractive Research has spent the last three years conducting scientific research in collaboration with the Universit?t Bayreuth, the Hochschule für angewandtes Management, and Digitize the Planet e.V. into the role of digital platforms in outdoor visitor guidance. ??The aim: to understand how digital platforms influence user behaviour in nature – and how to steer it in a sustainable direction. In a powerful keynote speech, Prof. Dr. Manuel Steinbauer presented the study’s results, ?repeatedly emphasising the enormous potential of platforms like Outdooractive to provide effective, real-time information in the field. Following the presentation, a panel discussion brought together Hartmut Wimmer (CEO of Outdooractive), Antje von Dewitz (CEO of VAUDE), Jan Lorch, Steffen Reich (Deutscher Alpenverein e.V.), Prof. Dr. Steinbauer, and Prof. Dr. Manuel Sand to discuss corporate responsibility, data availability, and the societal challenges of building a reliable digital infrastructure for nature protection. Outdooractive has long been a pioneer in this area: Our innovative features for displaying nature protection rules and trail closures – directly in the app and route planner – are a direct result of this research and now serve as best practice across the industry. This was also recognized by the ADAC Tourism Award Bavaria. ?? The results and key recommendations from the project are now available in the newly released Reference Guide – a must-read for all stakeholders in outdoor sports and conservation.
